Some of you might have noticed there was no game 4 wrap up post. That’s because life happens and I got to welcome my nephew to the world, so understandably, we were hanging out, catching up and talking about how he thinks the free agent landscape will shake out and what impact KD will have on the rest of the finals.
It was just announced today that Durant expects to play in Game 5 and he looks to lead the charge on the comeback from a 3-1 deficit. The comeback is something the Warriors know all too well, letting a 3-1 Finals lead slip to the LeBron led Cavaliers in 2016 they will try to rectify that mistake against the Toronto Raptors 3 years later.
The addition of KD will no doubt spark the offense of Golden State and create matchup problems for the Raptors both offensively and defensively. Having to guard a 7 foot shooter who can pass will nullify the Box and 1 defense that has been giving Steph Curry fits the last 2 games.
If you are a bandwagon Canadian during these Finals and wonder what Toronto has to do to close this game out, my thoughts are these; DON’T CHANGE ANYTHING! Poised, calm, smart basketball is what is getting these wins for the Great White North. Playing behind the veterans like Lowry, Leonard, Ibaka and Green are allowing the young guns to see the game more clear and make better decisions. Playoff experience matters, people.
Game 5 in Toronto tips off tonight at 9pm/EST in the 6ix. Will Toronto close out and win at home or will Oracle Arena see one more game (game 6) before they close down and move to San Francisco next season?
Tune in tonight and follow me on Twitter @theoutlethoops as I type things that are happening in the game, during the game.
